Reflection/ Biographical Poem
We covered a lot of great information tonight. I liked the quizizz but the competitive approach to answering the fastest gave me anxiety haha. I enjoyed talking about conducive classroom environments for learning and hearing everyone's ideas. I think we all agree that organization is key as well as specific areas around the rooms for the students to do stations or reading. A well- stocked library with a variety of genres is also essential. Word walls are great to help students use as a reference throughout various lessons. I was able to visualize several classrooms that i have seen either when I was on field experience or while subbing. It is nice to see that most of the classrooms I have been in have tried to incorporate a quiet reading area for the students. I also like that you can catch glimpses of the teacher's personality through the decoration choices they make. I felt like we cleared up some confusions we had with assignments last week which is good. I now have a set time frame in mind for when I need to make sure my ideas have come to fruition. I forgot to ask if we needed to add pictures to this post as well, so I may end up revising this blog ;). Below is my biographical poem.
Carman Seay
Carman
Mother, short, sassy, and sweet ;)
Big Sister of Nicole, Buddy, and Madisyn
Lover of my daughter, my husband, and turtles
Who feels happy when my daughter laughs or smiles, relaxed when I'm on a beach, and sad when it's cold
Who fears spiders, losing a loved one, and failing
Who would like to see Disneyworld, the Eiffel tower, and the statue of liberty
Resident of Holts Summit, Missouri

I lived in JC for 20 years! Did you know that? Love the poem. Classroom culture is so important.
ReplyDeleteCarman,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post! I love your poem as well! I too have seem so many different classroom set-ups that are so great for students but I think we will know for sure what works for us when we are in the classroom. I know that lots of color will definitely be in my class but after that, I will add as the years go. :-) Books are something I am going to start purchasing so I need to find some fabulous garage sales! Lol Great thoughts!

I am scared of spiders, too! It's pathetic how terrified I am of them, but I just can't help it. I've dealt with 7 spiders in 3 days around my house and on my car lately. I'm telling ya, they're after me! lol :) I think the sweetest part of your poem is how happy it makes you to hear your daughter laugh or smile. I can't think of anything better than seeing a child so happy, and it's just even better when it is your own. All 3 of your places would be neat to see. It looks like we live pretty close!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't know you lived in Jefferson City for 20 years. I grew up in Fulton.
ReplyDeleteHi Carman, having to answer quickly on the Quizizz stressed me out too. LOL
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that we had to post a reflection on the class as well as the poem. Oops! I see that we have several things in common in our poems. Sounds like we would get along well!
Hey Carman,
ReplyDeleteOmg I too am a very competitive person and while I love doing apps like Quizz and Kaboot they give me so much anxiety. Even though I get anxious I do think they are a great way to check for understanding another way then just pen and paper. I would also have to agree I loved our conversation during Wednesday class!! i love thinking about how my class will be laid out and all the different things that can help my student with different learning styles. I love your Poem!! I find it really cool that by putting down information you are able to form poems.
Carman, I would love to see the Eiffel Tower and Disneyworld someday! I know Disneyworld will happen at some point, but the Eiffel Tower I'm not so sure about. I have seen the statue of liberty and it looks like it does in all the movies-but it is smaller than you would think!! I like your poem and we grew up close to each other. I'm from Jeff City! I wonder what high school you went to :)
